One Mission, Two Cities: Africa Well's Ghana Outreach in August 2024

November 24, 2024·6 min read

In early August 2024, Africa Well landed in Ghana with a single objective: reach the people who fall through the cracks of formal healthcare and education systems.

Our volunteers moved across both urban and rural districts in Accra and Kumasi — two cities with very different faces, but the same underlying reality for underserved families: access to medical care is not guaranteed, and education is often the first thing sacrificed when resources are tight.

What we delivered in those weeks was deliberately broad. Free medical treatment for children and adults who would otherwise go undiagnosed and untreated. Educational scholarships for students whose futures were stalled by circumstances they didn't choose. Essential supplies for families whose daily lives required immediate relief.

The Ghana outreach reflects how Africa Well thinks about impact. Health and education are not separate problems. They are the same problem. A child who is sick cannot learn. A child who cannot learn becomes an adult with fewer options, higher vulnerability, and less power over their own health. You have to work both levers at once.

Your continued support makes missions like this possible — and enables us to take this model to more countries across Africa.
